Why High-Speed Rotors Demand More Than Magnetic Performance

As motors push beyond 20,000 RPM—and in some cases exceed 100,000 RPM—centrifugal forces place extreme mechanical stress on rotor materials. Traditional iron cobalt alloys such as Hiperco significantly outperform silicon steels in core loss but were limited in yield strength.

For advanced rotor designs, yield strength above 400 MPa is the critical threshold—unlocking higher speeds without sacrificing structural integrity.
